With over 246 families applying for a free tree for their new born child, the Mid Suffolk District Council scheme to green up the district and leave a growing legacy for future generations definitely left a positive impact on the local environment.
The idea was suggested by the Green Party and whole-heartedly supported by the council. Request yours from the Mid Suffolk District Council website here: www.midsuffolk.gov.uk/treeforlife
There are a few key meetings coming up and it would help to get as many interested people together as is possible.

Joint meeting with Parish Council to meet with Council Officers , first to discuss CIL how we can get it and spend it and maybe a little about how best to construct our Neighbourhood plan…..what will get us through hoops and on to referendum as quickly as possible. Jimmy will be drawing up a draft agenda and key questions.

If you have views on the neighbourhood plan, take a look and bring your thoughts on how to take the plan forward.

These transcribed comments on development collected at the meeting on 27th June have been collated and added to the document time-line on the Neighbourhood Plan page.
They are also listed here under the broad headings identified by the group:
The drop in event was a great success and the footfall and the numbers of people saying they wanted to be actively involved took the organisers by surprise. The Chair, Phil Newby, has thanked everyone for contributing to the success of the event. A truly brilliant result.
Suggestions collected on post-it notes around what may become the main strands of the plan, will now be transcribed and made available. There were around 140 signatures in agreement with the Parish Boundary as the Plan Boundary which is more than statistically significant for Walsham.
An application will now be submitted by the via the Parish Clerk. This will mean that the Walsham will then be recognised by the District Council as a Live Neighbourhood Plan Parish.
A Wash-Up meeting will be held on July 4th at 7pm in the Blue Boar. On the agenda, as well as a drink, will be the picking of the winning entries from the competition to create a Neighbourhood Plan logo (children from the village stepped up enthusiastically to this task) and to talk about how the working groups will be set up to run over the summer and how promotion will be organised for Garden’s Weekend.
The Parish Council Accounts have been published for 2017/18
Please note: These accounts have been audited by the Council’s appointed internal auditor but have yet to be signed off by the external auditor so may yet be subject to change.
Section 1 Annual Governance Statement – shows the statements made by Councillors to the auditor regard to there being a sound system of internal control.
Work in the hall is progressing very well and is currently running slightly ahead of schedule. Insulation layers are being installed to each internal wall which will be about six inches thicker once the work is completed.
An initial stage payment representing 30% of the total project cost has now been made. The three new windows have been ordered via the Parish Council and will be installed during the week commencing 6th November. If work continues at this rate the hall may even be available again before Christmas!
The Parish Council page now includes the latest agenda and the Minutes of each Parish Council meeting as they are published.
Records of the Minutes going back to 2014 have been uploaded as have the Budget Reconciliation reports that are presented to Councillors at each meeting. At the moment these go back to the beginning of the 2017/18 financial year.
All the documents are presented chronologically and in a searchable table.
The Parish Council page has been updated to include a list of contacts for Councillors and Officers, agendas and minutes going back to January 2014, budget reconciliation reports back to April 2017, County and District Councillor Jessica Fleming’s reports to Parish Council (these need to be completed) and the policies and procedures to which the Parish Council works.
