It’s been a month of mixed results for the First Team  League wise we drew 2 -2 at home to Haverhill Rovers coming back from 2-0 down. We then lost at home by the odd goal in three to Godmanchester Rovers having played for twenty minutes with ten men. We were thrashed away by third placed Coggeshall Town but then thrashed Wivenhoe Town at home by 4 goals to nil. A brace from Cameron Nichols and a goal apiece for Callum Dongray and Lee Hammond did our goal difference the world of good. In the League Cup we beat Long Melford 6 -5 on penalties following a 1-1 draw. Lee Hammond was our goalscorer in the Suffolk premier Cup we lost 3-0 at home to Brantham Athletic.

The Reserves thought they had won their first league game of the season beating Ipswich Wanderers Reserves away but a few days later Wanderers withdraw from the league.

The under 18’s have improved tremendously this month drawing 0 -0 away with third placed Framlingham Town and were the better side but couldn’t score the all important goal. The following week they defeated Ipswich Wanderers 2 -1 away. They then drew 2 -2 at home to Hadleigh coming back from two nil down and then thrashed Stowmarket Town 9-1 away. Ryan Stiff scored 5 goals. Kehan Whitby scored a brace and Ben Bennett Day and Ross Guide completed the scoring.

The B side are having a decent season in the Bury and District League and beat Stanton Reserves by the odd goal in five in the local derby.

The Ladies have won all three of their League games to date but lost 1 -0 to East Bergholt in the League Cup.

The Veterans are also enjoing themselves and beat Diss by the odd goal in five in the local derby.

Finally it is with great sadness that I have to report that Bartons Willows have folded.

black and white graphic of cricketer in actionThe cricket section held its AGM on 27th November.  Officials positions and contacts TBA.

Saturday team achieved promotion to 3 Division of the Two Counties league which means we should see some good cricket played at the ground next season.

Interest from youngsters of both genders in the game is growing and increased effort will be made to cater for that in both facilities and coaching. A number of clubs of similar standing to our own have managed to attract an overseas cricketer to both play and help develop the younger players so the meeting determined to see what could be found in terms of temporary local employment and accommodation.
