It was lucky that I arrived late the day before since I had to go back to the cathedral to take some pictures.  When I came out the heavens opened and there was thunder and lightning, so I waited for the skies to clear.  An earlier start and I would have been in the thick of it outside.

Geoffrey-Chaucer-statueAll fine until after lunch, when the Bermuda Triangle syndrome struck again. No sign posts and I landed up where I had started after lunch, but with fresh information.  After more signpost problems I began to hope for a cycle path, even if it proved to be an assault course. “Be careful what you wish for!” I got it.  NCR 17  – although in part it was quite good, but at others it proved safer to walk.

My troubles were not over, when I arrived in Rochester.  My B&B was a further 4 miles away. So Rochester Cathedral will just have to be missed. Never mind I’ve logged up 34!! After finally reaching the B&B it was a snackette and a rest that was needed.

Walsham would not be the same without the village church and the regular sound of the church bells.
If you would like to sponsor this act of pedalling lunacy, taking in a number of Cathedrals in England Wales and Scotland whilst covering a distance of some 2,500 miles, then please complete the sponsor form
