Pre-school – Little Willows

Little Willows logo; a simplified drawing of stick figures in black inside a red circle.

Little Willows Pre-school has been alive in Walsham for over 20 years, providing early years education (delivering the EYFS) and childcare for both local children and also for those from surrounding areas. In 1999, after fundraising the necessary money, with the fantastic support of local villagers, the pre-school moved into their own purpose built pre-school building on the site of the local Primary School. Little Willows is a thriving group offering places for 2 to 5 year olds, from 8.45am until 2.45pm every week day during term times.

We offer plenty of opportunity for both adult led and structured free play. The children are encouraged to be independant learners and choose from a variety of stimulating activities in our home corner, writing area, book corner, malleable area, messy play area, sand or water play area. Free flow play can also take place in our pre-school garden (lottery funded in 2004). The all weather surfaces mean that children can get out in the fresh air all year round in a stimulating and safe environment. The emphasis is on play-based learning giving your child a solid foundation in the personal, social, emotional and academic skills that they will need when they start school.

Little Willows is a registered educational charity and is run by a committee of parents of the children attending the Little Willows pre-school with the members of the committee changing annually and parents are encouraged to stand for election. The government funds each child of three years old (the term after their third birthday), for up to 5 sessions per week (15 hours). At Little Willows you have the opportunity to book some, all, or even more sessions. We are OFSTED registered and a member of the Pre-school Learning Alliance. Please check with the Inland Revenue for your eligibility for working families tax credit for childcare costs.

Times are 8.45 to 11.45am for the morning session and afternoon sessions are 11.45 to 2.45pm. Morning and afternoon sessions can be linked to create full day care.

We can now also offer full day care from 8am-5.30pm; including Breakfast and Afterschool Clubs, with pick-up and drop-off at school included.

The afternoon session includes our lunchtime routine whereby you provide a packed lunch and a drink for your child in a small flat container, and we will refrigerate it until lunchtime when the children sit and remain seated to eat their lunch.

Costs are; a 3 hour funded session free, a 3 hour unfunded session is £10.00, full daycare, £20.00.
