Clarkes of Walsham are one of the largest independent suppliers of building, farming and garden materials in the East of England. Started in 1908, by Horace F. Clarke the son of a well-known local auctioneer whose auctioning of agricultural requisites led him to establishing a timber yard, which after the First World War became a Builder’s & Agricultural Merchants and in 1954 was made a limited company.
Still a family business now run by Horace’s great-grandsons, Clarkes prides itself on offering a personal service that is valued by both trade and retail customers alike. They are the major employer within Walsham le Willows and the surrounding area employing 95 local people.
Clarkes buy direct from most of the leading manufacturers and their unique and diverse range and quality of products is unrivalled, as is their trained staff who are always available to help and advise all of their customers.
Clarkes have a fleet of 16 lorries in the famous Clarkes red and yellow livery which have HiaB cranes to help with the delivery of heavy or difficult loads and every day they make over 200 deliveries to customers throughout East Anglia with weekly deliveries also available throughout most of England.
